About the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins
Canadian Silver Maple Leaf silver coins are produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.
Produced since 1988, Silver Maples are the most recognised silver bullion coin after Silver Eagles. The design features the maple leaf on the reverse with Queen Elizabeth on the obverse.
Since 2014 the coin has added 2 new features:
- Radial lines from the center of the coin. This creates a light diffracting pattern on both the obverse and reverse of the coin.
- The maple privy mark are micro-engraved with the last two digits of the corresponding year. For example the number “14” is engraved in correspondence to the year 2014.
The coins are produced based on demand and the mintage is therefore fluctuating from year to year. Silver Maples are also legal tender at CAD $5.
Individual coins are delivered in coin capsules. Orders in increments of 25 are delivered in mint tubes while orders in increments of 500 are delivered in monster boxes.
